More odd E3 features

Yeah, yeah, E3 is all over and done with, but I’m finding out fun little sidenotes through the magic of Twitter.  For instance, one of the very few original NES games I ever played was A Boy and His Blob, the delightful tale of a normal boy and his fat blob friend who only ate jellybeans.  Different flavoured jellybeans turned your blob into different objects, and using these you made your way through different platform mazes.

Anyway, almost twenty years after the game was originally released, they’re currently making a new version for the DS.  The game will stay true to it’s puzzle/adventure origins, and feature hand-painted graphics.  Undoubtably it’s one of those titles that adults are going to buy for their kids because they remember playing it when they were children.  Appreciation by the new generation, well, that might be something different!

I’d actually like to hear of more old games getting redone like this, and not just in the “Sega Mega Drive ULTIMATE SUPER COLLECTION” kind of way.  It’s good to see an old game that played well get a face-lift and reinterpretation.
